While this is the worst number of the week, it's a spot where Clemson should be a touchdown favorite, so there is value here. The Tigers have not necessarily been explosive offensively, but they have been able to score in bunches. Clemson is notably stronger in the trenches, which should give D.J. Uiagalelei the time he needs to pick apart a struggling Seminoles secondary. Even if this game is close for a few quarters, Clemson should be able to put it away in the fourth. Florida State is improved from a year ago just not to the point where it's going to take down a team this talented and experienced, even at home.
Florida State has dropped consecutive games for the first time this season. Close wins against Louisville and LSU have shaded their record a tad. Although Florida State is a bit dinged up, they have a knack of hanging around even with an ugly offensive display. Back the Seminoles in front of their home crowd getting a generous 4.5 points.
I have no idea why Clemson isn't favored by more against a Florida State team dealing with injuries everywhere you look. The Tigers have been banged up a bit on defense, but are expected to get some key pieces back this weekend. Plus, while he's not a superstar, D.J. Uiagalelei has played much better this season, and Clemson is a legit playoff team because of it.
The sharps are reportedly all over FSU. Clemson’s offense lacks the pop of its predecessors, but the Seminoles’ has shown even less oomph. The lack of confidence in their place kicker was evident when, in position for a late winning field goal against N.C. State, a risky pass was called. It was intercepted. FSU’s specific weakness, its ground game, will get negated and then some by the Tigers’ stout front seven. Clemson owns a half-dozen straight outright wins in the series, and this FSU roster seems ill-equipped to end the streak.
Not giving 3.5 points, but I don't think Clemson will actually lose. Noles leading rusher Treshaun Ward 72 carries for 488 yards and three touchdowns) is in doubt due to injury. The Tigers' excellent defense should get back stellar tackle Bryan Bresee after missing the past two games due to a kidney infection as well as a couple guys in the secondary.
