Sometimes a mid-level team can be hard for oddsmakers to catch up to early in the season. Thus far Syracuse has blown past the spread as a home underdog of five points to Louisville, and as 24-point road favorites against UConn. Now the Orange will face a higher level opponent in Purdue. Look for the Boilermakers to hinder the progress quarterback Garrett Shrader has shown through two games. It should be an up-tempo attack from Purdue that will put the pressure on the home team for responses. Take Purdue.

Syracuse is off to an impressive start. But the Orange have benefited from a bizarre Louisville no-show in the opener and faced little resistance from moribund UConn last week. The veteran-heavy Boilermakers stumbled against Penn State in a game they controlled much of the way, and this one now looms as important toward their bowl eligibility. I think Purdue has the better personnel and its duo of QB Aidan O'Connell and Charlie Jones will be too much for the Orange to handle.
