Grant McCasland found it a bit easier to slow the pace in recent seasons at North Texas than here in the Big 12 with the Red Raiders, who have plenty of functional weaponry including a near-38% accuracy mark from behind the arc. That's helped a slew of "over" results which had reached 10-2 across a 12-game span before a lower-scoring game vs. slower-paced UCF on the weekend. Meanwhile top ten KU is multi-pronged with a collection of scorers led by Kevin McCullar, Jr (19.6 ppg) and recently augmented by 6-9 frosh Aussie wing Johnny Furphy, who has scored in double digits in seven of the last eight games for an offense hitting almost 51% from the floor. Kansas is 1-4 in Big 12 road games and will be without Big 12 leading scorer Kevin McCullar Jr. (19.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 4.6 apg), a transfer from Texas Tech. Fellow guard Dajuan Harris, the Big 12 assists leader, will try to play through an ankle injury but likely be less than 100 percent. The Red Raiders are 12-1 at home.

If Kansas gets Kevin McCullar back at full strength the calculus may change, but even if he tries to suit up against his former team the injury concern around what’s been a nagging knee injury remains. The Jayhawks were able to squeak by Baylor at home without him, but the challenge is a bit different on the road against a Texas Tech squad that is 12-1 at home this season.
