Is the wrong team favored here? KenPom ranks The Citadel as the No. 194 team in the country and Presbyterian at 264. The Citadel already owns a win at ACC school Pittsburgh and has the preseason SoCon Player of the Year in forward Hayden Brown. The SportsLine Projection Model has the Bulldogs winning. So does Sagarin. The Bulldogs defeated the Blue Hose, 94-82 in their last meeting on Dec. 22, 2020. The Blue Hose have covered just one of their past seven as home favorites overall. In the early 1900s, Presbyterian was referred to as the Blue Stockings and over time Stockings was shortened to Hose in newspapers. Sort of like Tampa Bay Buccaneers are Bucs. As a former newspaper guy, the shorter the nickname the better for headline writing.

I'll take the Citadel to give Presbyterian some trouble Monday. The Bulldogs just beat Pittsburgh outright by 15 when they were +10.5-point underdogs at the close. I think they will again outperform their expectations. The model agrees, making this game a pick'em. Take the points.
