2020 NFL Draft: LSU linebacker Patrick Queen picked by Packers prop bet

The Green Bay Packers select 30th in the first round of this month's NFL Draft. Might they look to LSU linebacker Patrick Queen?

The Green Bay Packers pick 30th in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and earlier this week we looked at the possibility of the Packers trading up to take Utah State quarterback Jordan Love as a potential long-term replacement for Aaron Rodgers. Certainly could happen, but today we examine a William Hill sportsbook prop on LSU linebacker Patrick Queen being selected by Green Bay.

That's yes-only at +500, meaning a $100 wager would return $500. It doesn't matter where the Packers take Queen just that they do for that bet to pay off.

On the CBS Big Board, Queen is ranked as the No. 34 overall player and No. 3 linebacker behind Clemson's Isaiah Simmons and Oklahoma's Kenneth Murray. The 6-foot, 229-pound Queen ran an impressive 4.5-yard 40 at the NFL Combine but also tweaked his hamstring. It turned out to be nothing major. Queen did 18 reps on the bench press and had a vertical jump of 35 inches.

Last year for the national champion Tigers, Queen had 85 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks and an interception. He was the Defensive MVP of the College Football Playoff title game win over Clemson with eight tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.

If Queen goes in Round 1, it would be the second year in a row that happened for an LSU linebacker after Devin White last year at No. 5 overall to Tampa Bay, and White had a fine rookie campaign. Before White, there had been just one LSU player listed as a linebacker ever selected in the first round and that was Eric Hill in 1989. Barkevious Mingo was a first-round pick in 2013 but played defensive end in college before shifting to linebacker in the NFL.

Queen is given an Over-Under draft position of 24.5 at William Hill, and the majority of betting action is on the Under – i.e. 24th or before. If that's the case, then the Packers wouldn't get him barring a trade up. Linebacker is a need for Green Bay; the team lost Blake Martinez and signed Christian Kirksey, but it's not considered the Packers' most pressing need. That would be receiver.

NFL picks: No on Queen to Packers and Over 24.5.
