I like that Jameis Winston will introduce the deep passing game to the Giants offense with him as the starter. He looked like a guy last week who was pressing when thrust into the lineup. In this matchup vs the Titans, the Giants actually have the advantage on the perimeter and playing in inclement weather benefits the offense.
After emergency fill-in QB Jameis Winston completed just 11 passes in 27 launches for 111 yards last Sunday in kind weather, it stands to reason the Giants will stick to the ground amid the nor'easter that will make things wet and windy. The Titans are permitting a well-below-average 120 rush yards per game. Tennessee lacks the offensive firepower to pull ahead by a wide margin, so New York need not throw heavily to catch up. Look for a heavy dose of handoffs by Winston and thus relatively few balls falling to the turf.
Jameis Winston canтАЩt play as bad as he did this past Monday Night, right? Even without Jaxson Dart, this run first offense should be able to take advantage of a Titans defense allowing 23.5 points per game. Tennessee shouldтАЩve beaten the Eagles last week as their offense showed some progress heading into week three. The Giants corners are one of the weaknesses on defense as Tae Banks is questionable, leaving rookie Colton Hood to start. Brain Burns is banged up but expects to play, the pass rush has shown nothing and their linebackers and secondary are vulnerable. DonтАЩt forget the homecoming for Brian Daboll and Wandale Robinson.
I am going back to the Cam Skattebo well after a rough Monday Night Football performance. Everything went wrong for the Giants that night, and nothing was normal. With a full week to prep for Jameis Winston to be the starting quarterback and how to best support him, I like going back to Skattebo's rushing line. The Giants get the lowly Titans at home as a spot to bounce back as a offense. There is also expected to be rainy and windy weather at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. So I don't expect the game script to be Winston airing it out a ton. In this matchup and game script, I expect them to feed Skattebo, and he should bounce back to go over this line.
Never easy backing Tony Pollard but this number is low for a starting RB who typically handles 15+ rushing attempts in what should be a competitive game environment versus a subpar run defense. Tyjae Spears is also dealing with an ankle injury and has yet to practice this week which would potentially give some additional usage to Pollard who has eclipsed this line in six of his last seven appearances dating back to last season and 23/31 games since joining the Titans. The Giants defense just surrendered 164 combined rushing yards to Blake Corum and Kyren Williams and are missing numerous starters in their front 7.
The Titans averaged a healthy 5.7 yards per play in their heartbreaking loss to Philadelphia. That's a good sign entering Brian Daboll's revenge game at the Giants. Not only is New York going with Jameis Winston, who quite possibly might be washed up, but the G-Men could be without left tackle Andrew Thomas and top pass rusher Brian Burns. And we didn't even mention Malik Nabers' shoulder injury, which he's expected to play through. The 3s are going away so I jumped on Tennessee.
