The Jets have lost four straight overall and three in a row away. That Gang Green fans think Mike White is the savior in his return from injury is funny to me. Seattle's Geno Smith gets a chance to punk his former team (so does Pete Carroll) by eliminating New York from playoff contention. With the return of Tyler Lockett from injury, I think Smith will. Perhaps consider a first-quarter Seattle wager: The Jets have only scored two touchdowns in the first quarter all season. Starting Jets right guard Nate Herbig, who showed up on Friday’s injury report because of his ankle, is inactive.
The Jets get Mike White back for this game, which should elevate their offensive potential. But he's made three starts this year and those games have only topped 41 points once thanks to the Jets' elite defense. The Seahawks only managed to score 13 points at home against an elite 49ers defense two weeks ago, then could only score 10 against a Chiefs defense that had been struggling mightily heading into last week. I'm only expecting 13-16 points from them, which means White and Co. need to make up the difference to get to this number. Seattle's defense is perceived to be falling apart, but allowing 21 to San Francisco and 24 to Kansas City isn't terrible. This could be a 17-16 type of game.
The Seahawks haven't won at home since beating the Giants on Oct. 30. They've dropped five of six overall and likely won't have Tyler Lockett (964 receiving yards, 8 TDs) for this critical game. Lockett underwent surgery to repair a broken finger. Seattle also could be without right tackle Abraham Lucas, who has started all 15 games but is dealing with a knee injury. The Jets welcome back Mike White, who has a passer rating 13 points higher than Zach Wilson. He'll have success against a Seahawks defense allowing 5.7 yards per play (24th). Play the Jets on the money line at -140.
