In what may be a battle of backup quarterbacks, the Rams are simply better in most other phases of the game. Sean McVay is 7-1 outright and ATS vs. Kliff Kingsbury and 11-1 in those same categories against the Cardinals as a franchise. This is a buy spot for Los Angeles after it looked awful against Tampa Bay. While Los Angeles may not be great without Matthew Stafford – hell, it hasn’t been that good with him – Arizona should be brutal without Kyler Murray under center. This is a good value at a field goal for a full unit, and I’d still take a half unit up to -4.
NFL totals rarely get this low. Then again, NFL games usually do not match up backups at QB. Although Matthew Stafford and Kyler Murray have not been ruled out, both appear unlikely to play. Their backups have made a total of four pass attempts in mop-up duty this season. Los Angeles' offense has been awful with Stafford while Arizona's is designed for Murray, who is a dual threat.
The Rams' offense could not have looked worse last Sunday at Tampa Bay. It's been an epic struggle all season. But this is a get-right spot, as LA has dominated Arizona. Under Sean McVay, the Rams are 11-1 against the Cardinals, including 10-1-1 ATS with an ATS margin of 10.2 points per game. The Rams won the first meeting this season, 20-12 in Week 3. Arizona's offense got an instant jolt from DeAndre Hopkins' return in Week 7, but the Seahawks and rookie Tariq Woolen limited Hopkins to four catches for 36 yards in a 31-21 Seattle win Sunday. Jalen Ramsey awaits. With the Cards having yielded 33 points per game over their last three, look for the Rams to get into the 20s and cover.
