The Dolphins will face a Raiders team that has rest on its side. The Raiders played the last Thursday game of the season, losing to the Chargers. This makes today’s game a crucial one for the playoff picture, but one that bodes well for the Dolphins. The Raiders have dropped four of five and three straight home games. Grab Miami.
The Dolphins had to deal with a bunch of injuries on the offensive side of the ball last week and were still able to come away with a win against the Patriots. It shouldn't matter whose on the field in this one, as the Raiders defense has been abysmal at keeping scoring down, ranking last in the league in percentage of drives that end in a score and 31st in points per drive. That plus a good offense has led to a 10-3-1 record for the Over in Raiders games. I don't see much dropoff from Derek Carr to Marcus Mariota, so I expect another high-scoring game here.
This is a tough spot for the Dolphins, going cross country over the holiday weekend after securing a huge win against the rival Patriots. The Dolphins defense gives up a lot of yards but gets off the field on third down, where they are the best in the league. But the Raiders get it done on third down in well, with the second-best success in the league. The Miami defense has also played a lot of limited offenses lately, and if Marcus Mariota is under center as expected, this should be a tougher test. As long as the Raiders are motivated, they have a good chance of coming away with the win.
The Raiders can't stop anybody. Miami keeps finding different ways to win and cover. Get this line while it's only a field goal.
