The Broncos are 2-2 at home, with those losses coming by four points to the Chiefs and by three to the Rams. Look for Von Miller and company to force mistakes, and for rookie wideout Courtland Sutton to shine. Back Denver to snap Houston's five-game win streak.
The Texans have won five straight, but none of the teams they beat currently have a winning record. Yes, the Broncos are another bad team on the surface, but they also have the seventh-best DVOA in football (while Houston ranks 12th) and a great home-field advantage. The Broncos also have a pair of pass-rush weapons on the edge, and they should eat up the Texans' below-average offensive line. The recent success of the Texans defense has come against some pretty bad offenses as well, so I think the potential is there for the Denver run game to get going at home and get the win.
Denver would have preferred another trade partner than Houston with this week. Veteran Demaryius Thomas not only brings a wealth of knowledge on the Broncos but a threat in the red zone, an area in which the Texans have stumbled all season. Better yet for Houston, half of Denver’s starting secondary is ailing: S Daniel Stewart (neck) and CB Bradley Roby (ankle). We might see evidence that WR DeAndre Hopkins has few peers at his position.
Houston is playing extremely well, with five straight wins. The Texans just got the receiver they needed -- from the Broncos. They're also running the ball now. Denver is terribly coached, the QB is not playing well and they're going nowhere. Their secondary is not what it once was, and you can run against the Broncos too.
