There are some trends we just can’t ignore and this is one of them. Since 2024, Memphis is 0-26 against the spread after scoring 116 points in the previous game. Two games ago, they dropped 126 against Orlando in Germany, before losing at home to Atlanta as a 1.5-point favorite three days later. Memphis did score 122 against the Hawks, so the trend is our friend again tonight. Ja Morant and Santi Aldama are out for the Grizzlies, while Zion Williamson is in for New Orleans. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the sad Pelicans even pull off the outright upset, but just to be safe, I’ll take the points.

Trey Murphy Jr. continues to prove he’s one of the most underrated players in the NBA while averaging a gaudy 28 PPG in the month of January. Murphy is a matchup nightmare and has a similar offensive game to Kevin Durant in his ability to get his shot off versus any anyone on the court. In a game that projects to be competitive this looks like a good spot to back the uber talented veteran.

DraftKings. As the Grizzlies have cycled players in and out of the rotation, primarily due to injuries, Jock Landale currently finds himself with a significant role. Memphis will be without Santi Aldama and Zach Edey in the frontcourt, and Ja Morant is once again out tonight due to an elbow injury. Even if he comes off the bench, Landale should be featured prominently. Landale has cleared this line in seven of his last eight games he’s played at least 22 minutes. And the matchup against New Orleans is elite - the Pelicans allow the fourth most points plus rebounds to centers this season. I’d bet this up to over 21.5, or at over 23.5 points plus rebounds plus assists.
