After opening with hard-fought wins over the Blazers and Kings at the start of this Western Conference road trip, Detroit has looked tired in losses to the Jazz and Clippers, having no answer for Kawhi Leonard, who scored 55 points in the Clips' Sunday night win. The Pistons have yet to lose three straight this season but are at risk tonight. As for the Lake Show, it responded to JJ Redick reading the riot act after the ugly loss to the Rockets on Christmas, and the defense responded with arguably its best effort in six weeks since a 119-95 win at Milwaukee on November 15. LA absorbed the absence of Austin Reaves thanks in part to Nick Smith's 21 points off the bench. Play Lakers
Bit of a tricky spot for Detroit at the end of a West Coast trip, having lost back-to-back games and been in distracting Los Angeles since Saturday. It's also LeBron James' birthday and historically he puts up big numbers in averaging 32.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists on that day (over his PRA might not be a bad idea). The Lakers seemed to respond to coach JJ Redick's criticism last time out with a blowout of the Kings, although that's not really hard to do. The Pistons are 1-7 ATS in their past eight as road favorites and have outright lost five of those.

The Detroit Pistons have lost consecutive games for just the second time this season. In their latest loss Sunday against the Clippers they scored a season low 99 points. Expect others to step up Tuesday other then Cade Cunningham. Tobias Harris scored just six points Sunday, and the four other times he has scored single digits he has scored 13, 16, 18, and 20 the next game. Take his over.

Caesars (at -121). Averaging a combined 36.1 points plus assists this season, Cade Cunningham has cleared this line in 17 of his last 25 games played. He gets a national TV matchup in Los Angeles against the Lakers - one that should be conducive to Cunningham’s production. The Lakers have really struggled against pick and roll ball-handlers of late, ranking 20th overall on the season. The aggressive Cunningham should thrive in the half court both as a scorer and distributor (the Lakers also allow the sixth most assists per possession). I’d bet this up to Over 36.5.
