Bet365 at -120. I’ll back Randy Vasquez to get the job done in the early innings. The Padres starter does not pitch deep into games, but he’s been effective in the early innings (.681 OPS allowed the first two times through the order). He’ll face a dwindling Cardinals offense that’s posted a .665 OPS over the last month. On the flip side, the Padres will square off against rookie Michael McGreevy, whom they tattooed in his last start (4.2 innings, 9 hits and 7 runs).
The Padres have won six games in a row, and they’ve beaten the Cardinals three games in a row. Tonight, they send Randy Vasquez to the mound to face Michael McGreevy, who they faced last week, and in that game, he lasted 4.2 innings and gave up seven runs in a 9-2 Padres win. The Padres haven't lost since. The Padres have won six straight games with Vasquez starting, and I like them tonight to get the win. Padres to win.

I'm already pretty big on the Padres tonight and will throw down a small biscuit on Randy Vasquez at this phenomenal price to get the W. While I'm pretty confident in San Diego overall (largely due to its lineup and now loaded bullpen), guess I can't say I'm mega-confident here as Vasquez has not gone five full in any of his past three. But he pitched well overall in July with a 2.79 ERA -- including six strong vs. a solid Texas team. He's certainly capable of five good innings at least, and the Cards aren't hitting much right now. Again, this is just a price play.
The Cards are fading fast because they can't score; they've been blanked nine times in the past 31 games, and almost blanked for a third straight game last night at Petco before the Padres emerged 4-1 winners. It would seem as if St Louis starter Michael McGreevy, from nearby San Clemente, needs more run support after getting bounced around in some recent starts, including last Sunday vs. these same Padres at Busch Stadium when clubbed for seven runs and nine hit sin just 4 2/3 IP of an 8-2 loss. Meanwhile, though Randy Vasquez is at the back end of SD's rotation, the Padres have won his last six starts, and he spun a 2.79 ERA in July. Play Padres on Run Line
Placed my biggest MLB bet of the season on the Padres on Friday, and thank you Jobu as it had been a rough stretch. I can't say I will be repeating that tonight on the Dads, but I do really like them again. I like them for the pennant honestly (at current value). San Diego trashed Cards rookie pitcher Michael McGreevy last Sunday in STL. The Cardinals seem like they have mailed it in now, which makes me very happy. Probably fade them a lot on the road the rest of the way.
