Carlos Mendoza mentioned Sean Manaea would have his pitch count increased to around 80 soon but it wasn't feasible in the 2nd appearance back from the IL, in his first start last time out. The Angels lineup that opposes him has eight righties in it this afternoon and he's struck out 11 righties in just 6.1 innings so far. Only two Angels hitters are below a 20% strikeout rate against lefties and even if he doesn't have a long leash, this Angels order has struggled mightily to avoid striking out against southpaws. I would like to play over 6.5 K's at +145 (0.5u) rather than paying the juice for over 5.5 but don't have the option here so take the info with you!
Tough spot for the Halos at the end of a six-game trip and then having to fly across country ahead of a date vs. Seattle on Thursday -- a couple of regulars are out led by catcher Logan O'Hoppe (18 HR). The Mets are off Thursday, so they can empty the bullpen if need be. It's a bullpen day for L.A. behind opener Brock Burke. The Angels' bullpen has a collective 5.06 ERA that is 28th in the majors. Certainly -1 is a solid and cheaper alternative.

Fanatics at -130. Sean Manaea has cleared this line in both his outings this season, registering 13 strikeouts in 7.1 innings. After tweaking his arm slot and pitch mix in the middle of last season, Manaea finished 2024 clearing this line in eight of his final twelve starts, with a 31.3% called plus swinging strike rate in that span. That CSW% has maintained this season (32.8%), and I do believe the Mets will look to push the lefties pitch count into the 80s today. Manaea will face the Angels, who have the highest strikeout rate against lefties (27.7%; 26.9% over the last 30 days), and are at the tail end of an east coast road trip.
