I know Max Fried is a tall order here, but I'm not passing up the chance to get plus money on the Dodgers at home. They are 19-8 in Dodger Stadium and had Thursday off after a road trip. It's a good spot to win.
The Yankees have had seven months to stew over the World Series loss to the Dodgers and finally get their chance at revenge this weekend. They hit Chavez Ravine hot, having won 9 of 10, and rested after being in the area with a midweek sweep in Anaheim. Aaron Boone also has the right guy on the mound in Max Fried, posting Cy Young-caliber numbers, at 7-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 0.93 WHIP into Friday. Meanwhile, the Bronx Bombers can do some business vs. the Tony Gonsolin, a weak link in an already somewhat-ragged LA rotation, and struggling in his last two starts, losses to the Angels and Mets while posting an 8.00 ERA and 2.11 WHIP. I'll talk about this a bit in Friday's newsletter, and I understand why the Yankees are favored with Max Fried on the mound. He has been awesome. But I'm absolutely taking perhaps my one chance all season to get the Dodgers +1.5 at home. Much less at a pretty nice price.
The LA Dodgers return home after a six-game road trip in the Eastern Time Zone. The New York Yankees have been playing baseball in California against the LA Angels and enter this matchup seeking World Series revenge. Max Fried has held the current Dodgers' roster to a .203 batting average and a .630 OPS over 187 career at-bats. I don't believe Tony Gonsolin can keep this determined Yankees team from scoring. I like the Bronx Bombers in game one.
