The Padres lost four in a row last week but have reeled off five straight wins since with sweeps over the Giants and Pittsburgh. Tonight, they meet the Yankees at Yankee Stadium and the Padres have lost four of their last five meetings. But it's the Yankees who are in a bit of a slump now, losing four of their last six games. The Padres have their lucky charm going today with Nick Pivetta, who has won his last four starts, allowing four runs combined. Yankee starter Carlos Rodon has won his last three starts, allowing three runs combined. The under is probably a good play, but the Padres plus-130 is an excellent play.
The Padres have won five straight games, while New York dropped two of three to Tampa Bay over the weekend. However, I'm backing the Yanks to end their two-game slide at home. Nick Pivetta has been sensational for SD this season with a 1.78 ERA, although I really like the way Carlos Rodon is pitching right now. Rodon has been light-out in his last three starts, giving up just three runs over 19 innings. The Yankees won those games by a combined score of 21-4.
