Tomoyuki Sugano gives the O's their best chance these days, but it's relative, because no other member of the O's rotation is performing. Sugano is the only starter with an acceptable ERA (3.54), but Baltimore has another problem these days on the offensive side, scoring just 12 runs across the last seven games, losing six of those, including all three on the weekend at Detroit as the Orioles have fallen into the AL East basement. Meanwhile the Yanks' bats came alive yesterday in the DH sweep of the Blue Jays, scoring 16 runs across the pair of wins, and Will Warren seems to be able to give Aaron Boone five decent innings innings of work in his recent starts. Orioles starter Tomoyuki Sugano has gotten extremely fortunate with balls in play. He has struck out just nine batters in 28 innings while allowing six home runs in his past four starts. It's a bad recipe against the powerful Yankees, who are tied for first in MLB with 45 home runs. Look for New York to extend the Orioles' woes.

The Orioles are massive disappointments and have lost six of seven, but maybe seeing the bitter rival Yankees for the first time this season wakes something up. The Bombers are just 7-6 away and had to play a doubleheader yesterday before traveling. Will Warren has a 5.91 ERA in three road starts. O's Japanese rookie Tomo Sugano has been solid at 2-1 with a 3.54 ERA. Cedric Mullins and Adley Rutschman should be back in the lineup after missing Sunday.
