Merrill Kelly threw 96 pitches last time and 85 pitches before that, in two starts since coming off the IL. With those pitch counts, he should have enough in the tank to get deeper into this game as long as he avoids a blow up. Box scores don't tell the full story, as a 25 pitch 5th inning should have sunk him last time, but he returned for the 6th inning before being pulled after walking the first two batters. Manager Torey Lovullo giving Kelly the 6th inning is encouraging, and barring a super inefficient run again, Kelly should have an opportunity to pitch in the 6th. Not an outstanding matchup but he's been better vs. lefties and Boston has six in the lineup today.

Playing Under 10 on this matchup didn't work but if there's any wind today at Fenway, it's blowing in slightly. And the teams only totaled five runs last night. The Diamondbacks go for the sweep at Fenway Park where they love it. 73-56 and they keep climbing up the ladder, they're catching the Dodgers. Today they will have to help out Merrill Kelly who's making his third start since he came back. His last start didn't go so well giving up six runs Tampa Bay. His first start back went well beating Philadelphia. But this is going to close out a series, it's going to be a great finale to a road trip. Kelly faced the Red Sox last year and allowed one run in 6.1 innings in a 4-2 win. I think anytime we can get plus money with Diamondbacks we take it. Diamondbacks to win.
