Tampa Bay's Tyler Glasnow has only allowed one run in two starts after coming off Tommy John surgery. He faces Cleveland's Triston McKenzie, who's making his post-season debut. McKenzie has 2.25 ERA in two previous starts against Tampa Bay. The Rays has lost six straight games while the Guardians have won 25 of their last 31 games. The Rays bats, .171 the last seven days, have not been the same. However, backs against the wall, with the game at a pick-em, I like the Rays.
Triston McKenzie will be making his postseason debut and he is a rookie, so you never really know how he’ll perform. Tyler Glasnow is going for the Rays, and he has been dominant since coming off the IL, but he can’t make it too deep in the game. The Guardians bullpen has been very good this season and better than the Rays. The Rays have really struggled against righties this season with all their top batters being righties. I like the Guardians to complete the sweep, and if they don’t, we already have our series play in on the Guardians for Game 3 tomorrow if necessary.
The Rays offense isn't very good and looked pretty punchless in Game 1 against Shane Bieber and Emmanuel Clase. Things won't get easier in Game 2, as Guardians starter Triston McKenzie has been excellent this season. He also finished the season hot, pitching to a 2.27 ERA in his last 11 starts. It won't be a problem if they need to extend Clase, either, as he only needed 11 pitches Friday. The Guardians will scratch enough runs across to advance.
Have you seen the Rays? They can't hit and are in a tailspin. It's over. Tyler Glasnow can be stud but he has maybe four innings (do like NRFI). Cleveland's Triston McKenzie has a 2.77 ERA at home.
