Washington RHP Josiah Gray throws with extreme confidence and comes off one of his best outings of the season, but the Nationals still have lost four of his last five outings. Washington is in the midst of a four-game losing streak, while the Mariners have won eight straight and have rejuvenated RHP Chris Flexen coming off his best turn of the year. Seattle has won each of his last three starts. Cheap price. Take the Mariners to win.
Well, oddsmakers smartened up a little as this matchup had a total of 9.5 last night, which I loved before it was postponed. Still think it will go Under 9, though, as Seattle's Chris Flexen simply doesn't give up more than three earned runs in any start, and young Nats right-hander Josiah Gray has a 2.66 ERA in his past seven starts and is starting to live up to his once-lofty prospect rating while with the Dodgers. The Mariners will be without their best all-around offensive player in rookie outfielder Julio Rodriguez as he'll serve a one-game suspension (as he was supposed to Tuesday) in Game 1 of the DH.
