Super Bowl 57 MVP odds: Sportsbook already exposed on 49ers' Nick Bosa, Christian McCaffrey, Bengals' Joe Burrow

The various sportsbooks posted odds to win Super Bowl LVII MVP as soon as the 14-team playoff field was finalized, and BetMGM already has three big liabilities to win the honors: San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa at +500, Niners running back Christian McCaffrey at +1800, and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow at +900.
Bosa is a lock to be named NFL Defensive Player of the Year at the NFL Honors show on Feb. 9 in Phoenix. He led the league with 18.5 sacks and became the fourth player since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic, to record at least one sack in 13 games within a single season, joining DeMarcus Ware (14 in 2008), Justin Houston (13 in 2014) and Chandler Jones (13 in 2017).
Only twice has a defensive end won Super Bowl MVP honors: Chicago's Richard Dent in Super Bowl XX and Dallas' Harvey Martin in Super Bowl XII when he split it with defensive tackle Randy White. Bosa is not among the top three most-wagered players in terms of handle or tickets at the book, but is taking enough at that long-shot price to be the No. 1 liability.
McCaffrey, the potential NFL Comeback Player of the Year, is second in total handle thus far at 17.7% and third in tickets at 8.5%. Rather amazingly, no running back has won MVP since Denver's Terrell Davis at Super Bow XXXII.
Burrow of course reached the Super Bowl last year and probably would have won MVP if the Bengals had completed a comeback against the Los Angeles Rams, but Cincinnati lost 23-20. A Burrow pass on fourth-and-1 from the L.A. 49-yard line with 43 seconds left fell incomplete as Burrow was being dragged down. Ja'Marr Chase was wide open, but Burrow failed to see him. Burrow threw for 263 yards and a touchdown but was sacked seven times. He leads in handle (17.7%) and tickets (12.6%).
Kansas City is the favorite to win Super Bowl LVII, so naturally quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the +400 favorite for MVP – which he also won in SB LIV when the Chiefs rallied past the 49ers. Mahomes is No. 2 in tickets at 8.8% but not among the top three in handle.
