Best bets today: Nuggets-Thunder among SportsLine's top plays for NBA, MLB, NHL for May 7
Will the Nuggets and Celtics bounce back from Game 1 losses? Let's see what the top plays are for Wednesday at SportsLine
Road teams have been on fire recently in the postseason. The last five NBA games have all been won by the visitors, while both NHL contests on Tuesday saw the road teams prevail as well. Will that trend continue on Wednesday night?
Headlining tonight's NBA slate, the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder will try to rebound after each team lost Game 1 of the series on their home court. The Jets and Stars kick off their second-round series with Winnipeg trying to remain dominant on home ice.Â
We highlight the top betting opportunities with links to full game analysis and picks throughout the article while providing the top betting tips for today's matchups.

Best NBA bets today
New York Knicks at Boston Celtics (-10.5, 210.5) 7:00 p.m. ET
The Celtics were stunned at home in Game 1 as 9.5-point favorites, losing to the Knicks in overtime. If Boston is looking for a silver lining in the loss, it's surprising the game even went into overtime, considering the Celtics shot just 35% from the field and missed 45 three-pointers.Â
Boston could be without Kristaps Porzingis on Wednesday. Porzingis missed the second half of Game 1 with an illness, and his status is uncertain. He averaged 19.5 points per game during the regular season.Â
The Knicks overcame a 20-point deficit in the third quarter thanks to 29 points from both Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby. The win was just New York's second in the last 10 meetings against Boston.Â
Denver Nuggets at Oklahoma City Thunder (-11, 230.5) 9:30 p.m. ET
It was a night of upsets on Monday. Oklahoma City became the second big favorite to lose when the Thunder blew a 16-point lead in the second half. Aaron Gordon drilled a three with 2.8 seconds left to help Denver steal Game 1 on the road, 121-119. The win was the Nuggets' third in the last four games against OKC.
While Gordon's shot put Denver up 1-0, it was Nikola Jokic who once again led the way for the Nuggets with 42 points and 22 rebounds. If the Thunder are going to even the series, they will need to do a much better job on the boards. Denver out-rebounded OKC by 20 in Game 1.Â
The first game of the series went over the closing number of 229.5, which isn't the norm for these two teams. Seven of the last 10 meetings have gone Under the total.Â
Best NHL bets today
Dallas Stars at Winnipeg Jets (+102, 5.5) 9:30 p.m. ET
The Jets needed seven games to get by the St. Louis Blues in the first round of the playoffs. Winnipeg got two late goals to force overtime, then Adam Lowry sent the Jets to the second round with the game-winner. The win moved Winnipeg to 34-7-4 at home this season.Â
The short-handed Stars took a similar path to get here. Dallas also went to a Game 7 against Colorado, prevailing 4-2. While the Jets have been close to unbeatable in Winnipeg, the Stars are a good road team, going 23-18-3 away from home this season.Â
Don't expect a lot of fireworks when these two teams get together. The last eight meetings have gone Under the total.Â
Best MLB bets today
San Diego Padres at New York Yankees (-180, 8) 7:05 p.m. ET
The Yankees stopped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday with a 12-3 win over the Padres, powered by a 10-run seventh inning. New York will look to take the series at home with ace Max Fried on the mound. Fried has been dominant early in the year, sporting a 6-0 record and 1.01 ERA. The Yankees have won all seven of Fried's starts this season.Â
The Padres will turn to right-hander Dylan Cease. Cease has been hit or miss this season, allowing three runs or more in four starts and two runs or fewer in the other three. Look for San Diego's bullpen to be a factor in this game. Cease has pitched more than 5.0 innings just twice in seven starts.Â
