BYU has yet to crack 100 rushing yards in the Big 12 and was held to 9 by Kansas in a blowout loss a few weeks ago. The Red Raiders are stout on run defense by their loose standards and held Baylor to 17 ground yards in a 39-14 road win. A shootout favors the Red Raiders but the likely game script favors this going Over the posted total.

BYU QB Kedon Slovis made the most of his third different stop of his collegiate career at BYU, but took a major blow last week at TCU. The 44-11 loss was Slovis’s worst so far. It was also BYU’s third road game in four games. Texas Tech has QB issues and a game-time decision with the possibility of third-string freshman QB Jake Strong making his first road start. BYU is 3-0 at home. I took the points with BYU.

BYU+4.5 – The Red Raiders had to start their 2nd string QB Behren Morton after losing Tyler Shough for season but lost Morton at halftime after he re-injured his right shoulder AC joint. Morton is a game time decision. If Morton player injured or true freshman Jake Strong plays the Red Raiders offense will struggle on the road. BYU has had their ups and downs with a win at Arkansas, they lost at Kansas, then beat Cincinnati in Provo but lost 44-11 last week at TCU. I’m sure after getting beat up last week HC Kalani Sitake will have the Cougars ready this weekend. My model has this a pick’em game with Morton at QB. Without Morton the model says BYU by six!

I'm not really sure why BYU is even a home dog on Homecoming as the Coogs are unbeaten in Provo and simply a different team there (good thing because BYU looked awful Saturday at TCU). Texas Tech is 1-2 on the road and may have to start third-string freshman QB Jake Strong due to injuries.
