Gio Lopez has been quite impressive at quarterback throwing for 10 touchdowns and no interceptions but the South Alabama defense is horrible. In their last game, they won 87-10 over Northwestern State. Appalachian State brings 15 starters back from last year including the quarterback Joey Aguilar. Unfortunately, the offensive line returned only one starter and I think that might be an issue Thursday night against South Alabama. Appalachian State finished last season 6-1 and 6-2 in the Sun Belt. East Carolina almost took down Appalachian State last week, Aguilar gave up two interceptions while throwing for 424 yards. I think South Alabama can pull off the upset in Boone. Take the points with South Alabama and ride with Gio Lopez and coach Major Applewhite.
