Bowling Green comes into today’s matchup against Ball State with consecutive victories and wins in three of their last four matchups. Yet, in the first set of early Mac-tion games look for a bit of sloppy play tonight. Ball State’s ground attack should offset any issues with the passing game. Look for a battle here with Ball State covering the number.

A pair of run-oriented teams that operate among the slowest paces in FBS figure to deliver a score in the 30s. Each team has tried three QBs, with none finding much passing success. The foes rank ninth and 10th in scoring (league games only). The Cardinals' pass coverage is a liability, but their run D is suited to halt BG's ground game. The Falcons' run-stopping is nearly as effective. Both sides might be tempted to throw more, but the track record suggests such an approach is dicey.

One never knows which Bowling Green shows up as the Falcons have played some good teams really tough but also been blown out a few times. A win here is essentially a must to get bowl eligible. BGSU isn't a very good passing team but it looks like a run-heavy night weather-wise with cold temps. RB Terion Stewart is No. 1 in the nation in broken tackles (70), rushes of 10+ yards (29) and yards per carry after contact (4.75) among all FBS players with 100+ carries. He has rushed 90 times for 562 yards and five touchdowns over BGSU's last five games. Stewart averages 6.3 yards per rush for his career, which ranks No. 1 in program history. Half unit.
