Well this is a first. I am betting on a Kansas game. I think home field is worth a little. ESPN College Game Day is in Lawrence for the first time ever (I have been to Lawrence and I guarantee you they are flying in and out; it is awesome for hoops). This is simply the line getting to +7.5. If KU wins this? Go ahead and write in Lance Leipold as the next Wisconsin coach.
This should be fun. Kansas is still looking for respect after a 5-0 start. The Jayhawks made their debut in the AP poll this week after a 14-11 win over Iowa State. That game showed that Kansas can win even when its opponent dictates style. TCU is also undefeated and coming off a humiliation of Oklahoma. This looks like a much more even matchup than this line indicates
TCU has soared into the Top 25 with big wins over SMU and Oklahoma that cruised past the ATS number. This week they’ll face another new rising Top 25 program in Kansas. One can’t discount the Jayhawks' rise for a program that never sees this type of play in the football program. Yet, TCU has begun to click on all cylinders and looks like a team that will not hold back. Take TCU as its offense is too much for the Jayhawks.
There is no more heartwarming story this season that the longtime doormat Kansas has arrived in Week 6 with a perfect record. The Jayhawks barely made it, lucking out last Saturday over Iowa State, 14-11. TCU needed no magic dust, having plowed down Oklahoma, 55-24. The Horned Frogs are unbeaten themselves, and their offense covers more ground per game than all but one FBS member. QB Max Duggan belongs in the Heisman Trophy discussion. Overachievers tend to run out of gas. That could happen to Kansas here.
Both teams are undefeated straight up and against the spread, but I've only been riding one all season long. The Kansas Jayhawks have been far too kind to me to abandon them now. While I think the undefeated dream dies for Kansas Saturday, TCU's defense is too suspect for me to believe the Frogs will ever manage to pull too far away. I see a back and forth affair where the team who has it last will have a chance to win. I'm taking the points.
