SMU QB Tanner Mordecai posted some great passing numbers in losses to TCU and Maryland, but he also threw two interceptions in each game and completed only 54% of his attempts. Central Florida scrapped the passing game against Georgia Tech and won 27-10 as it rushed 56 times for 284 yards. Knights QB John Rhys Plumlee threw for only 49 yards but gained 100 yards on 16 carries. The new game plan for UCF is to slow down the game. The Under is the top play.

Wednesday football! This has been rescheduled twice due to Hurricane Ian -- my area is still a nightmare due to the storm. Reportedly, four SMU players are set to enter the transfer portal and will not play the rest of the way for the Mustangs; as long as players don't play in more than four games in a given season (this is SMU's fifth), they can take a redshirt year and retain eligibility. None of the four guys are massive contributors, but it obviously hurts the depth and is a distraction for the team. SMU can't stop the run, allowing 180.5 ypg. That plays to UCF's strength as it ranks third in rushing at 275.8 ypg with John Rhys Plumlee one of the best running QBs in the nation. The Knights should dominate time of possession and keep the high-powered SMU offense off the field.
