Houston looked good last week, but BYU is a much better defensive team than the Tulane team they just beat. Look for a big bounce back effort from BYU as they failed to cover the massive -34.5 spread last week. I make the Cougars -5.2 points better than Houston.

The BYU Cougars will head on the road Friday night to take on the Houston Cougars. They’re coming off a downgraded performance against UTSA in which they struggled to a 27-20 victory. Yet, look for BYU to get back to its style of play against a Houston team that’s still working its way into season form. Grab BYU.

Houston's 49-31 win over Tulane last week was a bit misleading. Of the 31 points the Houston defense allowed, 21 came after Houston turnovers. Overall the Houston defense did a terrific job of limiting the Tulane offense, particularly in the run game. They'll do that again tonight against a BYU team that struggled with UTSA last week despite being a 35-point favorite in the game.

Houston rallied to clobber Tulane last week, showing impressive quick-strike ability on offense. This week against BYU, it has a major step up in competition defensively as BYU does a great job of collapsing the pocket, shutting down an opponent's run game. Offensively for BYU, their game last week against UTSA served as a wake-up call.
