Penn State has beaten Maryland by 40.7 points per game in their last three meetings. This game will not be as much of a domination as any of those, but the Nittany Lions are the superior team entering this game. Maryland's blowout of Syracuse is well in the past, and PSU beating Pitt looks better by the day. The Terrapins will be a tough opponent for a bit, but Josh Jackson is not going to be able to take advantage of the Nittany Lions. Maryland is 1-3 ATS in its last four Big Ten games, and Penn State should ultimately cruise to a fifth straight win in the series.
The party should be over a Maryland club that out up gaudy numbers against weak competition in the first couple of weeks, but came back down to Earth against a rugged a disciplined Temple club. Penn State comes off a bye rested and will likely be determined to shore up the shortcomings it had in squeaking by rival Pitt in its previous outing. The Lions get healthy Fridya with a solid victory.
Maryland got off to an incredibly hot start to the season but Temple showed the world the formula for stopping its offense. Josh Jackson was not an accurate QB at Virginia Tech, and he still isn't one with the Terps. Penn State will make Jackson beat them with his arm, and he can't. I like the Under more than Penn State, however, because I'm not ready to trust Sean Clifford in a road game yet.
The Maryland Terrapins are one of those teams that could tumble in conference play. Friday’s matchup against Penn State should offer further glimpses of chemistry issues seen in Maryland’s loss against Temple. Grab Penn State as it should continue to climb in the polls.
