2023 college football futures odds: Texas vs. Oklahoma head-to-head win total a pick'em in final Big 12 season for both teams

It's the final season in the Big 12 for both Texas and Oklahoma.

It should be a fascinating football season this year in the Big 12 as Texas and Oklahoma play their final seasons as league members before heading to the SEC, and Houston, Central Florida, Cincinnati and BYU join the league's ranks. DraftKings offers a 2023 regular-season win total head-to-to-head prop between the Longhorns and Sooners with both at -110 and both also set individually at over/under 9.5 wins.

Big 12 teams play nine league games and three out of conference. Oklahoma is all but a lock to finish 3-0 in non-conference play as it hosts Arkansas State and SMU and visits Tulsa. Among the new league teams, Oklahoma visits Cincinnati on Sept. 23, hosts UCF on Oct. 21 and visits BYU on Nov. 18. The Sooners don't play Houston. The annual Bedlam game vs. Oklahoma State, apparently the last one for quite a while, is on Nov. 4 in Stillwater.

Under 9.5 wins is a -120 favorite for OU, which was 6-7 last year under first-year coach Brent Venables. He has arguably the best returning starting quarterback in the conference in Dillon Gabriel, who was the 2022 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year (+3500 for 2023 Heisman Trophy), and a great recruiting class.

Texas should clobber visiting Rice and Wyoming on Sept. 2 and 16, respectively, but is a 7-point underdog on Sept. 9 at Alabama. The Longhorns nearly upset the visiting Crimson Tide last year but Alabama pulled it out late, 20-19, on a 33-yard field goal as time expired. In league play, Texas visits Houston on Oct. 21 and hosts BYU the next Saturday and doesn't play Cincinnati or UCF. The Red River Shootout vs. Oklahoma as usual is in Dallas on the first Saturday of October.

Over 9.5 wins is a -120 favorite for Texas, which also is an early 6-point favorite against Oklahoma. The Longhorns may have one of the most-watched QB battles of all time between incumbent Quinn Ewers and one of the most hyped QB recruits ever in true freshman Arch Manning, nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning.

Well, if there is a QB battle, that is. Coach Steve Sarkisian has said the plan is for Manning to sit behind Ewers this fall with the presumption that Ewers would then turn pro, and Manning would take over under center as the program shifts to the SEC in 2024. Manning might force the issue, although he struggled in the spring game. Ewers is currently +1200 to win the Heisman and Manning is +8000.

Texas is the +125 favorite to win the Big 12 title and Oklahoma is +340. The Longhorns haven't won the league since the title game returned in 2017.
