Expert Picks
After getting swept out emphatically on the weekend by the visiting Astros, new questions are arising regarding the Dodgers' pitching staff as the Blue heads to Milwaukee. The batters didn't do much vs. Houston pitching either, and worth noting that the two decent recent outings by Monday starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto came vs. the lowly Chisox and Rockies. Prior to those two, Yoshinobu had a 5.14 ERA across his previous four starts, which were all losses. As for the Brew Crew, they have maintained a playoff position for the past month, and they've won the last four outings made by Monday starter Freddy Peralta. Play Brewers on the Money Line.

The Brewers are actually one of the worst teams against right-handed pitching in baseball and have never seen Yamamoto's stuff. He has a career 1.81 ERA on the road, too. He should pile up the strikeouts.

The 17.5 outs line should be 16.5 at best but I do have a couple reservations. Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman got banged up Saturday and sat out yesterday. Dave Roberts' comments don't give me a ton of confidence that they are back in there today but at least Will Smith will be back after sitting yesterday. He's been far better at home this year and the Dodgers have to travel in with potentially a thinner lineup than usual, so I do see an angle for him completing six innings. Still, he will need a lot to go right to beat us, making this numbers-wise a good play, especially with a projection just above 16 outs. I'll stick with 0.5u here without seeing a lineup.

DraftKings. Freddy Peralta has failed to clear this line in eleven of his eighteen starts this season. While pitching at an All Star level, the righty throws the second most pitches per plate appearance (4.18), and the lowest zone percentage (45%) amongst qualified pitchers. That’s not going to bode well today against the Dodgers, who own the second lowest chase rate. Overall, the Dodgers have held fourteen of the last twenty right handed starters under this line.
