PSG cruised to a 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash last week. The Parisians really should have won by a higher margin, as they were completely dominant in that game. The action now shifts to Anfield for the second leg, but PSG should be the better team once again. They haven’t played since beating Liverpool last week, so they’ll be fresh. Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday, which should boost their morale, but they’ve still lost three of their last four games. PSG also beat Liverpool at Anfield last season, and they won’t fear a trip to Liverpool.
PSG is up 2-0 on aggregate, so obviously Liverpool will have to force the issue on Tuesday in the Champions League. The Reds didn't have a single shot on goal in the first leg, which I didn't even know was possible in a high-level matchup like this. Liverpool certainly looked a lot better Saturday back on the home pitch in a 2-0 EPL win over Fulham. Even PSG manager Luis Enrique said he expects a much different foe this time around. At home, Liverpool has won 14 of its past 18 vs. French foes.
I keep seeing the same argument that "Liverpool have to go for it, they're down 2-0, so they'll push!" That's fine, I hope they do push, because if they do PSG are going to rip them to pieces on the counter-attack. Liverpool looked horrific in the first leg and showed an extreme lack in confidence on the pitch. While they'll be a bit more focused playing at home, I don't see LFC having it in them to beat one of the deadliest attacks in world football. I love DNB being playable, and wouldn't be shocked if PSG win the second leg as well.
