Best bets for Wednesday, Feb. 18
John Calipari's Razorbacks have won three straight as they enter their second-to-last regular-season matchup and have a chance to knock Nate Oats' Crimson Tide out of next week's AP Poll. Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. (21.2 points per game) has been one of the best freshmen in the country this season, but Alabama boasts an excellent guard of its own in Labaron Philon Jr. (21.3 ppg). The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, likes the home team here. It has Alabama covering the spread in 68% of its simulations.
Arizona was the No. 1 team in the nation before it lost back-to-back games to No. 9 Kansas and No. 16 Texas Tech. The Wildcats will want to get back on track, but the Cougars are tough customers and have AJ Dybantsa (24 ppg), a likely lottery pick in the coming NBA Draft. BYU knows that Arizona is vulnerable right now and will want to build on its current two-game winning streak, which began after a run of four straight losses -- which included an 86-83 loss to Arizona. This has all the makings of one of the best games of the season. The SportsLine model has the Cougars covering 63% of the time.
