We have two teams on completely different paths in this matchup. AC Milan are second on the table and are unbeaten in their last nine league matches, while having the fewest losses in Serie A. Genoa have the second most losses in the league, the second worst defense and are in terrible form sitting 17th on the table. I'm taking the spread here because in my mind, AC Milan win this 1-0/2-0. I think Genoa will park the bus and try to keep this close and eventually Milan break through. The spread gives me a push if they only win by one, although, I think they'll win by two.
Really shouldn't be a matter of whether AC Milan, on a 16-match unbeaten streak, wins but whether we push or not. League leaders Inter easily won Wednesday so Milan needs the full three points. Christian Pulisic is apparently healthy enough to finally return to the starting lineup for the home side. Rafael Leao and Pulisic are set to start together again for only the second time in the league due to fitness issues for both. Near-bottom Genoa has one point in its past four matches.
Having endured a winless nine-game start before hitting the eject button on manager Patrick Vieira, Genoa has made a slight recovery under Daniele De Rossi to move out of the drop zone. Yet De Rossi's side is now winless in four and precariously perched in 17th, just three points clear of the cut-line. Outclassed at Roma last week was a reminder how far Genoa is from the contenders, having failed to notch any points yet vs. the top five. Not good vs. Milan, which needs three points to stay on the heels of Inter at the top of the Serie A table, and already having bolstered in the transfer window by adding Niclas Fulkrug from West Ham on Friday.
