First NFL coach fired odds Week 4: Atlanta Falcons' Dan Quinn now the betting favorite

By the time you read this, Dan Quinn may no longer be the Atlanta Falcons' coach.

Remember when the Atlanta Falcons led the New England Patriots 28-3 late in the third quarter of Super Bowl LI? It has been pretty much downhill ever since for Atlanta and Coach Dan Quinn, and he's the new favorite via SportsLine NFL oddsmakers to be the first NFL coach fired this year. He might be a goner by the time you read this after another inexplicable loss.

The Falcons blew a 15-point lead with less than five minutes to play in Week 2 in Dallas when the players apparently forgot what the onside kick rules were. Then on Sunday, Atlanta blew a 26-10 lead with about six minutes to go and lost to the Chicago Bears 30-26. The Falcons are the first team in NFL history to lose back-to-back games in which it led by 15 or more points in the final quarter.

"That's about as tough as it can get … The last two weeks have been nothing short of crushing … We need to find our ways to finish," Quinn said.

Just look at that photo above and how GM Thomas Dimitroff is eyeing Quinn. Not good (not that Dimitroff should feel safe either). One headline today from the Atlanta Journal Constitution: "Someone stop Dan Quinn before he coaches again."

Atlanta ranks fifth in the NFL in scoring at 30.0 points per game but is winless because of a defense – and Quinn is a defensive guy – that is allowing a league-worst 36 points per. The Falcons opened as 7.5-point underdogs for a Week 4 Monday night matchup at Green Bay and scorching-hot Aaron Rodgers. If you are wondering when the Falcons' bye is, which is often when coaches do get fired, it's Week 10. Not sure Quinn will make it that far.

Ditto the Jets' Adam Gase. His team was crushed at the Colts on Sunday and perhaps the only thing keeping him employed right now is the fact the Jets are on a short week as they host the Broncos on Thursday. Do not be surprised if Gase is gone after that game should New York lose to an injury-ravaged winless club (we doubt they do lose) because Gang Green is on a pseudo-bye following.
