Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Jeff's Analysis:

Jake Browning, a skilled quarterback with two years of experience in the Bengals' system, will lead the team in the second half of the game. He demonstrated his abilities in three impressive preseason games last season. Although Green Bay crushed the Bengals, they have significant potential, making the point spread seem overly generous. Notably, over the last 10 years, 0-1 underdogs of six or more points, playing against 1-0 teams, cover the spread 61% of the time in Week 2.

R.J.'s Analysis:

While the Falcons won 19-3 in their preseason opener, the offense did not perform well with third-stringer Logan Woodside handling the snaps at QB. We should see Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke this week, and that should improve the offensive production for Atlanta. But will it be enough to win by a touchdown in preseason play? The Bengals will turn to the more accomplished Trevor Siemian as the starter this week, and he has the experience to create scoring opportunities with the first-string offense. The Cincinnati defense needs a better showing after getting kicked in the teeth by Green Bay as well. I expect this to be a tight, low-scoring game, so I love getting the points here.
