The Jets have nothing to play for, but Garrett Wilson could win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year with a big game and surely Joe Flacco is aware of that. Wilson averaged about 11 targets per game in Flacco's three starts earlier this season and topped this number in two. That was when Wilson was an uncertain rookie.
The last time the Jets faced Skylar Thompson (Week 5, when he came in for an injured Teddy Bridgewater) they won 40-17. The score here won't be close to that, but I'll take 3.5 points with the Jets 'D' against Thompson. The Jets are eliminated while the Fins need a win, but N.Y. would love to keep its rival out out the postseason -- and despite what you'd think, teams needing to beat an eliminated team in the final two weeks to earn a playoff spot are 38.1% ATS since 1990, per Action Network. The Jets are starting old Joe Flacco, but he has a higher QB rating with more TDs and fewer INTs than Mike White this season. The Jets' banged-up O-line is an issue, but in a low-scoring game, grab the points.
What little excitement the Jets will carry with them to Miami got punctured when QB Mike White, around whom they have rallied, was declared out. The graying Joe Flacco gets the call. Miami's QB situation is a mystery, with Tua Tagovailoa, Teddy Bridgewater and Skylar Thomson in the running to start. An apparent incentive advantage does not always determine a winner, but the Jets were eliminated from playoff contention last week while Miami remains alive and, significantly, are at home. Consider grabbing this number before it might climb above a field goal.
Teddy Bridgewater suffered a dislocated and not broken finger in last week's loss in New England, so I have to think he guts it out here with a pre-game North Dallas Forty cocktail shot into that finger. The Fins have to have this for their wild-card chances. The Jets are in an equal free-fall, have no reason to care and might have an even worse QB situation -- unless newly signed Mike Glennon actually sees the field for the Dolphins, because that is a QB apocalypse. The Miami defense has been leaps and bounds better at home, so we'll back that unit and maybe a Tyreek Hill long TD to pull out a low-scoring victory.
