I've been holding out for six but it doesn't look like I'm going to get it, so let's fire on Giants +5.5. I don't like the Giants playing on a short week, and I don't like the matchup of these offensive tackles against the Bears pass rush. But this pick comes down to one thing: Who's the worst starting quarterback in football? I think the guy with the best case for that mantle is Mitchell Trubisky, despite what he did against a decimated secondary late in Week 1. And the worst starting quarterback in football has no business laying 5.5 points against anyone.
I was impressed with Joe Judge's debut as Giants' coach, and we can expect a bounceback game from Saquon Barkley. The Bears should not be laying this many points, even at home against a team traveling on a short week. Take the G-Men to keep this close.
I have some breaking news: The Bears offense is not good. Yes, Mitchell Trubisky was able to rally for three fourth-quarter TDs to steal a win in Detroit, but that doesn't happen without the Lions suffering cluster injuries in the secondary. The Giants seem like the type of defense who could give up some points, but did you actually watch them closely on Monday night? I was impressed at what they did against a great Steelers offense (despite what the scoreboard showed). I also believe the Bears pass rush could make quick work of this Giants O-line, helping to keep this game in the 30s.
I still don't trust this Bears' offense. The Giants actually have been a good bet on the road the last two years. Daniel Jones will play better this week, and Saquon Barkley isn't going to be held below 1 yard per carry. Take the points.
