Understanding Public and Money
Expert Picks
The Rockets could easily be undefeated. They have had two close losses and their wins have been for the most part complete blowouts. Don’t sleep on Houston -- give me the Rockets on the money line.
After losing their first two games, the Rockets have won five straight. Each of those victories has come by at least eight points, with four of them coming by at least 14 points. The Spurs have lost back-to-back games after starting out 5-0, but that’s not the main reason why I like the Rockets to cover this spread. The Spurs will be without Dylan Harper (calf), which is significant because De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) has yet to make his season debut. The Rockets already have a stellar defense, so being without Harper will only make scoring even more difficult for the Spurs.

I actually like that Victor Wembanyama is on 9 for 28 from the field his last two games with just 5 total assists in back-to-back Spurs losses. Usually a losing 'streak' results in adjustments and in this case I'm thinking it results in Wemby finding his open teammates the way he did in 3 straight wins where he had monster PRA stat lines (27/16/6, 24/15/4, 31/14/4). Since last season he has averaged 3.7 assists (23-23 over/under 3.5) and is projected for 4. This fits the criteria of very solid +$$$ on a line under both his projection and average.
