The Lakers have trouble controlling penetration but both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are out. L.A. should be able to control Dallas defensively and with LeBron James and Anthony Davis both in the lineup should have more than enough of a high-end talent gap to cover this line.

Austin Reaves points prop and assists continue to head towards peak levels. That does not scare me with today’s matchup against a depleted Dallas Mavericks team. The Lakers utilized a lot of energy in Sunday’s matchup against the Rockets, which could have an effect on them against Dallas. In his return from a four-game suspension Monday, Naji Marshall started and scored 16 points. He took 15 shots and played 33 minutes. Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Daniel Gafford will all be out Tuesday, so Marshall has a clear path to around 30 minutes. He has averaged 18.3 points over the six games that he has logged at least 30 minutes this season. The Lakers have the 10th-worst defensive rating in the league, making this over even more appealing.

These don't look like the Mavericks we have gotten to know lately. With Luka Doncic (calf strain) out until further notice and Kyrie Irving (back disc) probably out another week, that's more than 52 ppg missing from the Dallas lineup. No surprise, then, that the Mavs continue to trend under and scored only 104 in their latest struggle during last night's loss (and another under) at Memphis. That makes it seven under results the last ten for Dallas. Meanwhile, JJ Redick is looking to blend newly-added Dorian Finney-Smith into the mix as the Lake Show contemplates more moves before the deadline. Jason Kidd could opt to bring Marshall off the bench today, but his minutes floor should be relatively secure for the Mavs, who will be without Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Daniel Gafford tonight. Marshall has cleared this line in 9/12 games with just 24+ minutes, and was aggressive last night with 16 drives. Great spot against a Lakers team that struggles in transition (22nd).
