Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Mike's Analysis:

This will be the first game of a back-to-back set for the Heat. They have decided to rest Jimmy Butler, which is noteworthy because they are 4-6 in games that he has missed this season. They are 1-5 without him on the road, and they are just 4-9 on the road for the season, overall. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey and Luguentz Dort should all suit up for the Thunder, leaving them with a great opportunity to keep this game close.

Larry's Analysis:

Jimmy Butler will rest Wednesday night, a bad sign for a Miami team that's 4-9 SU on the road and 9-18-1 ATS overall. OKC has lost three straight but the last two came by single digits at Cleveland and Dallas. The Thunder remain one of the top ATS teams, beating oddsmakers' expectations by an average of 2.9 points per game. That's fifth-best in the NBA. It also helps that the Thunder are back home, where they are 6-5 SU, for the first time since Nov. 30. They've played seven of their last eight on the road. With OKC's injury report looking clean, I'll back the home dog.
