Understanding Public and Money
Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

The Cubs went 5-1 against the Padres, winning the last five, scoring 55 runs. But those meetings were in April and early July, when the Padres pitching staff and hitters hadn't reached their full potential. Since July 24th, the Padres are 41-18, and in the last month the Padres had an MLB-best .280 batting average. I think for the Cubs to win this series, they have to jump out early on the starters and avoid pressure closeout situations with the Padres excellent bullpen. If the Cubs don't get up early on the starter, they're in trouble. Padres starter Michael King lost his last start against the Dodgers, but he won his previous four starts. I like the Padres to win Game 1 and series.
I hate laying -172 odds for any bet but Cubs 3B Alex Bregman is 7 for 8 vs. Padres starter Michael King in his career. That is serious domination of a matchup. Plus, Bregman is coming off a 4 for 4 game on Sunday. I'll also be betting his Over 1.5 H+R+RBI at plus-money on several sportsbooks.

Total BasesFernando Tatis Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases +102
MGM has this at +110 and that's where I'm seeing some value over taking total bases vs. the over 1.5 hits, runs and RBI at -135. Both of those are available at MGM, but at +110 for the total bases, against Matthew Boyd who walks righties at a much lower rate, I'm taking Tatis to have an extra base hit or multiple hits tonight. He's been better at home with a .316 average this year, better against lefties with a .309 average, and he ended the year scorching hot, hitting .337 in September with 60 total bases. Tatis hit 20 home runs in the second half of the year; a remarkable turnaround that I don't think stops here against a guy he's consistently hit hard.

Total Home Team RunsSan Diego Over 3.5 Total Runs -103
The Padres might have the hottest bats heading into the postseason. Over the last two weeks, San Diego has a home OPS of .905. Against LHPs, it's .951. Cubs LHP Matthew Boyd faced the Padres twice; he gave up eight runs on 16 hits over nine innings. The Pads have scored at least four runs in 10 of their last 11 games.
