After Friday's marathon vs. Detroit,. Bryce Miller is the only somewhat fresh arm available for Seattle, but his recent outings don't inspire much confidence. He's basically been a five-inning pitcher since returning to active duty in mid-August, and posted a 5.62 ERA for the remainder of the regular season. He wasn't especially sharp in Game 4 vs. the Tigers last Wednesday, either, out in the fifth inning after allowing a couple of runs in the 9-3 Seattle loss. Kevin Gausman seems a better alternative for Toronto, with a solid 5 2/3 IP vs. the Yankees in Game One of that ALDS, allowing just one run and four hits. In five September starts, Gausman also posted a solid 2.78 ERA. Play Blue Jays on RL
We've got the two best over teams in baseball, with Toronto hitting at 56.3% and Seattle at 55.6% of their games going over the total. So naturally, in Game 1 of the ALCS, we're going over 8 with Kevin Gausman facing Bryce Miller. I think Miller is good for giving up his regular three to four runs in his four to five innings of work, and Gausman has given up four runs in two of his last three starts. Over is the play.
So, so bummed for all my Michigan peeps with that crushing 15-inning loss in Game 5 of the ALDS in Seattle, but it will be nice to see a new AL winner with the M's never reaching a World Series and the Jays not for decades. Because that Game 5 vs. Detroit went so long (loving no ghost runner), the Seattle pitching staff is fairly wrecked even after Saturday off. Plus obviously long travel, etc. It just all sets up so well, it would appear, for Toronto to take Game 1 especially with Bo Bichette likely back. And I do like Jays in the series so will personally play Toronto Game 1/series double as I did Las Vegas Aces ($$).
