FYI: There's way more info on this play in my MLB article under the "analysis" tab here on Sportsline. Emmet Sheehan ranks as the #1 pitcher in baseball for whiffs and chase rate over their last 300 pitches; an interesting stat when you see who surrounds him on the leaderboards. Logan Gilbert, Dylan Cease, Jacob deGrom, just to name a few; all premiere strikeout artists! Against a Rockies lineup he struck out seven times when in Denver, despite HR damage and walks, I think Sheehan can have more success, if not be even better tonight. I'm starting a ladder at seven & going 7,8,9,10. The umpire probably won't help us but Sheehan relies on whiffs and chase to get strikeouts, so I'm ok with it.
Guess we have play this again, although the Dodgers made us sweat last night. I'm not sure I trust Emmet Sheehan to go a full five and play him for a win as Sheehan didn't go five last time out. And he might be headed to the bullpen here soon. So we'll just fade Colorado starter German Marquez (0-2, 13.50 ERA in two starts this year vs. LA) and the Rockies' awful bullpen. The Dodgers got Max Muncy back in the lineup Monday and will get back Will Smith tonight. He wasn't on the IL like Muncy but hadn't played since last Wednesday with a hand issue. As I said yesterday, I think the Dodgers flip a switch now.
