I was pretty MLB burned out, but a week away from paying any attention got me a tad interested again. Will be extremely particular going forward. But I have some college buddies at Comerica to see Tarik Skubal, and they asked what to bet on him. I said this (since not much of a pitcher props guy otherwise). So I have to put my money where my mouth is. The Tigers should be plenty angry after being stunned last night by the Pale Hose. Skubal is 8-1 with a 2.34 ERA at home. The Sox are starting lefty Martin Perez, and Detroit hammers southpaws (No. 2 in OPS).

If Tarik Skubal strikes out eight batters today it is what it is, but he could still have a great start here and come up short of eight. The White Sox have surprisingly the 4th highest OPS against lefties in the 2nd half and they have just one batter in the projected lineup above a 20% strikeout rate vs. southpaws. Of course the lefties that created those numbers are not Tarik Skubal so there is some leeway here with the numbers, but this Chicago team hasn't been as strikeout happy and at this price I'm finding some value on the under.

Spencer Torkelson has a strong .935 OPS against left-handed pitching this season, and we think he's due for a HR after going 10 games without one. Martin Perez has only allowed 2 HRs in 8 starts this season, but his past struggles against right-handed hitters and the small sample size this year make us comfortable targeting him. We set Torkelson's line at +410 to homer.
