FanDuel at -108. Brady Singer has had significant issues with left handed hitters in away games. This season, he’s allowed the platoon a .317 average with a .951 OPS. And those numbers are actually slightly better than each of the last two seasons. Today, he’ll see six left handed hitters, including four of the first five in Arizona’s lineup. The D-Backs have maintained a strong .804 OPS against righties since the trade deadline, and should be able to chase Singer early, especially with the Reds desperate for a win.
Both starting pitchers own over a five ERA in their home and road splits. Zac Gallen has been pitching better of late, allowing three runs, or less, in each of his last four starts. Arizona has also won three of his last four starts as well. In the month of August, the Diamondbacks are top six in both average and OPS and scoring five, or more, runs in seven of their last 10 games.
It didn't work out so well for the Reds last night, but the same reasoning applies to Sunday's matchup at Chase Field. Specifically, the D-backs look to become the first team to sweep the Reds all of this season, but Arizona starter Zac Gallen, who has pitched a bit better lately, still hasn't had a big season, in fact struggling more at home (where he's 3-7 with a 5.50 ERA) than on the road. The Reds have already hurt themselves enough in the NL wild card race the past two nights, but will gladly give it a go with Brady Singer, who has a 1.86 ERA across his last five starts, four of those being Cincy wins.
