The first-place Blue Jays haven't won the AL East since 2015 and should have a great atmosphere Friday at Rogers Centre, where they are 32-16 and average 5.31 runs. Chris Bassitt is 6-0 with a 2.81 ERA at home and opposes San Francisco's Justin Verlander, who is winless in 15 starts. The Giants are 2-10 in his last 12 starts. Look for a much stronger second half from Vladimir Guerrero, who turned it on after the All-Star Break last year.
Caesar’s. It’s tough to gauge whether first half momentum will carry over after the All-Star break, but I’m going to back the Blue Jays in this one. Toronto finished the first half 32-16 at home, and today’s starter, Chris Bassitt had a 2.81 ERA in Toronto. The Jays are 7-3 on the run line in Bassitt’s home starts, and I like their chances to make that 8-3 today. The Giants were a pedestrian 24-25 on the road in the first half, and now have significant travel layered into the end of their All Star break. Justin Verlander has pitched to a 4.70 ERA (4.82 xERA), and has been lit up the second time through the order (.297 average and a .867 OPS).
