This time of the year in MLB, is typically a struggle for some pitchers as we get close to All Star break. Even the great Zack Wheeler has had his issues during this time frame. Each of the last two seasons his worst start has come during this stretch, including the Mets getting to him two years ago on June 25th with nine hits. I'm not sure what the Mets are doing starting Blade Tidwell. Was it his 4.76 ERA at AAA? After heavier bullpen usage over the last few days and using their projected Friday starter in Thursday's series final, Tidwell has been thrust into the middle of a major division rivalry. Tidwell hasn't been good at AAA this year or last (5.93 ERA), and in his only MLB appearance, he allowed nine hits and six runs in just 3.2 innings earlier this year. Zach Wheeler pitches at home where he has a 2.66 ERA and 4-1 record. The Philly bullpen is somewhat rested and the offense was stagnant yesterday against Edward Cabrera but some good hitting weather and Tidwell pitching should get the bats going again.
