Sometimes the best bets are ones you don't play. I was eyeing Detroit on Friday but didn't pull the trigger for whatever reason. Glad. I have been on the record that I was big on Detroit's Casey Mize to have a breakout season, and the former No. 1 overall pick has done that at 6-1 with a 2.53 ERA. At home: 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA. Mize is coming off the injured list, but I'm not too worried as it wasn't arm-related. Having a few weeks off honestly might be the best thing for a starting pitcher these days, and I expect a little extra giddy-up on his fastball. Can't believe I just said giddy-up. My gramps (and Shania Twain) would be proud.
