Red Sox starter Tanner Houck owns a 6.10 ERA, but he's actually pitched pretty well lately, allowing two or fewer earned runs in three of his last four starts. He has a career 1.42 ERA vs. Detroit. The Tigers counter with rookie Jackson Jobe, who has gone four or fewer innings in three of his six starts. Boston has won four of five, and Rafael Devers has a 1.277 OPS over his last 15 games. Since his 0-for-19 start, which included 15 strikeouts, Devers leads MLB with an .888 OPS.
We'll give Tigers rookie hurler Jackson Jobe a mulligan for the shaky outing in his last start at Colorado, mostly because it was his first time pitching in Denver at Coors Field (fortunately for him, Detroit won anyway). Mostly in the early part of this season, Jobe has been serviceable, and has been able to get into the middle innings without too much damage (2.70 ERA) in his pair of starts at Comerica Park, games in which Detroit won both. Meanwhile, the Bosox seem to be just a bit overpriced here, perhaps because of cooling down the hot Royals on the weekend, and not necessarily because of efforts from starter Tanner Houck (6.10 ERA). Play Tigers on Money Line.
Despite Jackson Jobe's rough outing at Coors Field, the Tigers are undefeated (6-0) in his starts this season. At home, Jobe has been solid with a 2.70 ERA. On the other side, Tanner Houck has struggled to lead the Red Sox to wins, with Boston going just 2-6 in his starts and 1-4 on the road. The Tigers have been dominant at home with a 14-5 record, even after dropping two to the Rangers. We estimate Detroit should be closer to -140 favorites, giving strong value at -105.

This seems rather generous on Boston's Jarren Duran considering he's batting .256 on the season and .182 this month -- and Comerica Park is pitcher-friendly. And winds are blowing in tonight. Tigers rookie Jackson Jobe, whom Duran hasn't seen, has been miles better at home this season with a 2.70 ERA.
